On the 1st of January 2013 we started the year flying to India.
We went to Calcutta, a city we didn't know and that we will hopefully visit many more times in the future.
This was also the first time for me to play in India, at the Calcutta International Guitar Festival, organized by Avik Saha.
The atmosphere was fabulous. There were parties every night after the concerts and we could socialize at length, with delicious food and drinks.
El 1 de Enero de 2013 empezamos el año volando a la India.
Fuimos a Calcuta, una ciudad que no conocíamos y que con suerte visitaremos muchas más veces en el futuro.
Ésta fue también la primera vez que toqué en la India, en el Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Calcuta, organizado por Avik Saha.
El ambiente fue fabuloso. Había fiestas todas las noches después de los conciertos y podíamos compartir la vida social, acompañada de comida deliciosa y bebidas.
At the end of the festival Avik, the organizer, with his warm hospitality, took us to the Ganges on an exotic boat trip, which we loved thoroughly.
Al final del festival Avik, el organizador, con su cálida hospitalidad, nos llevó al Ganges a disfrutar de un exótico paseo en barco, que disfrutamos intensamente.
As we had some free time after the festival finished, we had the opportunity to visit the house of Mother Teresa, a woman we admire for her dedication to the most forlorn, neglected and desolate people and her commitment to the "dying". The photo on the right is the humble bedroom of Mother Teresa, above the kitchen, very small and according to the nuns, she never used a fan.
Como teníamos algún tiempo libre al acabar el festival, tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar la casa de la Madre Teresa, una mujer que admiramos por su entrega y dedicación a los más abandonados y por su compromiso sin límites por los moribundos. La foto de la derecha es el humilde dormitorio de la Madre Teresa, encima de la cocina, muy pequeño y donde, según las monjas, nunca usó un ventilador.
In direct contrast with the austere bedroom where Mother Teresa lived, in the same city of Calcutta, we went to the mansion where the poet and thinker Rabindranath Tagore grew up. He left samples of beauty in his deep writings.
En contraste directo con la austera habitación donde vivía la Madre Teresa y en la misma ciudad de Calcuta, está la mansión donde creció el poeta y pensador Rabindranath Tagore, que tanta belleza ha dejado en sus profundos escritos.
While we were in Calcutta, we visited an awsome project, "Future Hope". We played for some of the students in the school. It was an informal and very gratifying occasion, when we could share our music with them in the patio. A precious moment we will never forget. We are full of admiration for this programme which has helped hundreds of street children over the years.
Mientras estábamos en Calcuta, visitamos un projecto maravilloso: "Future Hope". Tocamos para algunos de los estudiantes del colegio. Fue una situación informal y muy gratificante, en la que pudimos compartir nuestra música con los chicos en el patio. Un momento precioso que nunca olvidaremos. Admiramos profundamente este programa que ha ayudado a cientos de niños de la calle a lo largo de los años.
The streets of Calcutta are full of life and colour. We left full of wonderful memories and are already looking foward to going back.
Las calles de Calcuta están llenas de vida y color. Nos fuimos llenos de recuerdos maravillosos y con la ilusión de volver.
